VideoMasked Rider Black: Last episodeAug 10, '07 11:48 AM
for everyone
"Rider Change!" (I knew I needed to post this after doing a shaider post). Since di ko napanood ang wakas nito... at nahanap ko sa youtube ang wakas ishare ko din sa inyo ciempre. Bago ang lahat balik tanaw muna tayo.

Ano nga ba itong palabas na ito?

Kamen Rider Black (仮面ライダーBLACK Kamen Raidā Burakku), translated as Masked Rider Black, is a tokusatsu superhero television series. It is the eighth installment in the famous Kamen Rider Series of tokustasu shows. It is a joint collaboration between Ishinomori Productions and Toei, and was shown on MBS from October 4, 1987 to October 9, 1988, with a total of 51 episodes. With its very dramatic storyline and its twist of the Kamen Rider having a tragic relationship with his arch-nemesis, the installment not only became very popular in Japan, but also in the several other countries where it was aired. The series is often regarded as a classic and is considered by many to be one of the good tokusatsu shows of the late 80's. Kamen Rider Black RX was a direct sequel to this series.

Tetsuo Kurata (倉田てつを Kurata Tetsuo) (b. September 11, 1969 Born in Kanagawa, Japan) is a Japanese actor, best known for portraying Kotaro Minami, the main character of the tokusatsu Three Trilogy Superhero Series Kamen Rider BLACK Kamen Rider BLACK RX & Kamen Rider BLACK DX. Kurata made his acting debut in BLACK. He has since appeared in many other television series and theatrical films. His real name is Tetsuo Takayama.

He auditioned for the role of Kotaro Minami(alter ego of Kamen Rider Black) in 1986. He managed to impress the panel of judges including Ishinomori sensei, and won the role out of 8000 contestants.

Tetsuo has apparently been out of much public spotlight after leaving the entertainment industry for a bit of time, but came back to voice Kotaro Minami/Kamen Rider Black in Kamen Rider: Seigi No Keifu, as well as appearing in Battle of the Cooking Iron. In 2006, he had been in an interview made by TOEI regarding about his time in the '80s and his thoughts about the Kamen Rider Black series.

Trivia

  • The show's opening theme song was sung by Kamen Rider Black himself, Tetsuo Kurata. (Imagine ganun pala ang boses nya heheh)
  • Kamen Rider Black was the first series with a group of villains that did not have henchmen to fight against the hero.
  • Although the first Kamen Rider series featured 3 different types of motorcycles, Kamen Rider Black was the second series where a hero alternated between 2 different motorcycles (the first being Kamen Rider Super-1) whereas in the earlier series, one replaced the other.
  • The Minami Kotaro character returned in the sequel Kamen Rider Black RX.
  • In the Philippine dub of the show, Kotaro Minami is named Robert Akizuki and Nobuhiko Akizuki to Stephen Akizuki. Implication that they were related added even more drama to the tragic storyline. Kyoko is named Leslie, while Katsumi was changed to Naomi.
  • Also in the Philippine dubbed version, instead of Kotaro saying "Henshin" to change to Kamen Rider Black, he says "Rider Change". Because of the popularity Kamen Rider Black brought in the Philippines, all other Kamen Rider shows that were televised in the Philippines after Kamen Rider Black, which are Kamen Rider Ryuki, Kamen Rider Faiz, and Kamen Rider Blade, now say "Rider Change" to transform even if these other Kamen Rider shows were aired by other networks. IBC 13 aired Kamen Rider Black, ABS-CBN aired Kamen Rider Ryuki and GMA Network aired Kamen Rider Faiz and Kamen Rider Blade. All three shows are owned by the same producer, Telesuccess Productions, in the Philippines. At ganito po ang proseso noon (follow the images below pls read from right to left mula sa taas pababa)

  • Jun Yoshida (Birugenia) played Sorceress Poe in Uchuu Keiji Shaider three years prior to Kamen Rider Black.
  • In the Brazilian dub of the show, the hero was called "Black Kamen Rider" instead of Kamen Rider Black, probably because of an English grammatical rule (adjectives before nouns). For merchandising purposes, such as toys, soundtrack album and TV promos, the show was renamed "Blackman". Also in the same country, Kotaro Minami was named Issamu Minami, Birugenia was named Taurus, Katsumi was named Satie and Bishimu was named Pérola (pearl).
  • Despite Kamen Rider Black's impact on the franchise, many fans are disappointed that he is not given enough credit. Rather, the credit goes to Black's successive character, Black RX, who appears more often whenever the franchise is discussed as a whole.
  • In the first movie "Kamen Rider Black: Hurry To Evil Island" legendary Kamen Rider creator Shotaro Ishinomori appears as the fisherman who helps Kotaro.
  • This is the first Kamen Rider to feature an artificially intelligent motorcycle and also the first one to speak.
  • In Episode 16, Black was actually referred to as "Masked Rider" by one of the scientists involved with the Ultra Quartz project.
  • In the Indonesian dub of the show was titled "Ksatria Baja Hitam" (Black Steel Knight) after the titular character and "Shadow Moon" was changed into "Bayangan Hitam" (Black Shadow). The alteration of Kamen Rider's name and their battlecry in this installment brought laugh and anger to many fans.
  • In the Indonesian dub, instead of Kotaro saying "Henshin" to change to Kamen Rider Black, he says "Mantera Aji" (This chant literally mean "Magical Spell" Which nowhere close to "Henshin" which means to change). Later in the second installment, Kamen Rider Black RX, the chant was replaced with "Berubah" (Change). Instead of "Rider Kick" he says "Tendangan Maut" (Death Kick).
  • It takes 3 minutes to do Henshin based on Episode 21: Crash! Two Great Machines
*Wala na akong makitang ibang pictures ng bida sa ngayon... if mayroon kayong mahanap papost naman ng comment sa baba :D eto na ang last episode!
